Self awareness is a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

Here’s a list of questions and exercises to help you become self aware of yourself holistically at this present moment, taking into account your mind, body, emotions and spirit. After reading the questions, practice the exercises to help gain clarity and then take a moment to just relax and let your mind wander.

What are your current thoughts, what are you always thinking about?

Close your eyes and scan your body. Start with your head, chest, arms, legs, and feet. Notice areas of tension, relaxation, soreness, or good feelings.

What are your current feelings? Where do you feel the emotions in your body? What do you need to do to continue feeling emotions that serve you and are useful? What do you need to do to attend to in order to minimize or change your feelings if they are negative and not serving you?

Think of something or someone that inspires you, that makes you feel happiest. What images come to mind? How do these images inspire you to act today? Imagine yourself radiating this image today.
